The other was just a hopeful guess for you to try avoid having to understand it.

Now it sounds like a permissions thing which might be avoidedby trying to use a less secure zone (such as Intranet or Trusted sites) but again I think you should try using ProcMon to supplement your understanding of exactly what is happening for that case too. Note that the most significant difference about usingthose less secure zones would be that ordinary Protected Mode would be off which might not satisfy you anyway. Also, when comparing realize that the main difference with Enhanced Protected mode is that you are allowing the 64-bit process to be used forbrowsing, so the differences might be in how those.dll are registered.

There is nothing to say that there may not be more.dll that may need to be re-registered in the same way that the workaround advises. I just don't know what they wouldbe. That's why you need to find out what might need to be changed. I don't know why I am suddenly getting so many of those. Does this one requires a remote location too? I still haven't tried redirecting my Favorites butI can't imagine that that could be affecting use of my Desktop. I may eventually turn off the Security Alert because it is getting tiresome.
