The Ottomans and Timurids were best buddies and, as you can gather from the screenshot, Timmy blobbed out a lot (before Portugal and Russia disemboweled them, at any rate). Russia was a convenient attack dog to hurt both of those powers, so I largely left Russia alone after carving out enough ethnically Russian territory to make it an accepted culture.Besides, Muscovy was allied with Denmark/Scandinavia and England throughout most of the game.
That wasn't an alliance I was eager to fight. Erroneous, you must crush Muscovy in the first 10 years of the game when they attack Novgorod.
Here is a map of in 1555. Muscovy vassalized, Novgorod my ally, Siberia being colonized by yours truly. THIS is how you want to play the game. Currently it is 1628 and I have crushed the Ottomans, who were allied with Mega-Kazan and Mega-Timurids, made Sweden release Norway and Danish Cores, devoured Novgorod (they're gone) and annexed all of Crimea. 1628 and I am unstoppable.
France and Austria are my allies, and destroying the Ottomans is my only purpose from here on out. So although it's difficult, destroying Muscovy is a must early game, no way around it. YOU HAVE TO CRUSH THEM. It's a process, the elective monarchy introduced in Res Publica is a little confusing, but there are a few key things to handle it.Firstly, Idea GroupsDiplomatic first, your gonna need that extra diplomat later on.Humanist next, -2 revolt risk, religious and cultural tolerance, -10 idea cost, very nice.Aristocratic next.NOW. The elective monarchy has a few odd quirks, namely the election system itself.
You want to keep your own kings on the throne for as long as possible, It's tough but having low legitimacy, even 0 is fine as long as you get Humanist Ideas. DO NOT incorporate Lithuania before you max out on Polish ideas, you need that +3 tolerance of heretics when integrating all those Orthodox lands. The reason for keeping your nobles on the throne is the Pacta Convecta, which activates the moment a foreign ruler gets onto the throne. Once that happens the Sejm starts supporting or deciding against your policies, meaning they'll oppose your local nobles policies and support foreign kings. If you want to overthrow the Sejm you should allow the election of a foreign ruler once you cross the 1550's.

The reason for this is that the Pacta Convecta needs to fire for you to get the royal struggle event in the early 1600's. You don't need a foreign ruler on the throne, but you need to have had one. After killing 200k plus rebels your good to go lol. Ehhhh.I started by getting Trade, not Diplomatic. The reasoning was that the extra money would buy my Embassy early and having that extra money would mean I could afford cannons much more readily than my rivals. By picking up Aristocratic second, and getting the diplomat from that, I had three diplomats. That was sufficient.
Humanist was third because it's friggin' awesome as Poland, although I was never able to get Lithuanian as an accepted culture. I also lost Belarus' accepted culture centuries down the line. And you incorporate Lithuania via decision. Anything else is a waste of diplo points.Dealing with the elective monarchy is also a lot easier than you say: just let Austria win. Letting them elect their own dude gives them +200 (100?) to relations (decaying at 2 per year), which makes them very easy to land as an ally. Or, if you can conspire to get into wars with HRE states, it makes them less likely to demand imperial territory. And yes, that rebellion was absolutely ridiculous. I got 86k rebels on Warsaw; my entire army at the time was 80k.

It's the sheer amount of time you have to sink. My game was essentially done by 1700; I was playing another century, basically marking time, until I got the stupid achievement. It's hours of extra playtime. There's also the management of monarch points. Every few decades I would stop and number crunch to try and estimate what I'd have to do to finish in time. That's not hard, but it's tedious. And since you're probably doing the Winged Hussar achievement at the same time, you're picking up Aristocratic/Quality regardless of whether or not you'd actually want those idea groups.

If your play style is rather different, that can kind of hamstring you. If you focus on getting ideas and such that offer discounts, and keeping the Western Arms Trade buff active, and never buy ahead of time, tech will always cost 600 points. The last tech cost me 1k or so, but I bought it ahead of time to finish the achievement. If you buy tech properly, you're looking at 19200 points in each tech tree.Assuming an average of 7 monarch points per turn (level 3 adviser, shitty monarch with a 1 in every stat), it'd take you 230 years to get enough monarch points to cover the cost.
That gives you 150 years of income to play around with. So assuming you don't go completely crazy with coring stuff (I stopped expanding in the mid 1700's to be safe), you should be fine. And if you look at my map, you can see I blobbed out like mad. It's entirely possible to blob out and finish the achievement.
