Connetquot High School Drivers EducationDear Parents or Guardians,Please read this letter carefully. It will explain the policies regarding Registration for the Fall 2019 semester of Driver Education. Registration runs from Tuesday, July 30, 2019 through Friday, August 2, 2019 from 7:00 A.M. To 12:00 P.M.
Attached are Fall Enrollment Application and Code of Conduct forms, as well as a schedule of all classes. Classes begin on Monday, September 9, 2019. Students will register for a 90-minute lecture class and a90-minute driving lesson which meet once a week for 16 weeks. Pleaserefer to the Fall Class Registration form for available days and timesof lecture classes and driving lessons. Driving space is limitedto four (4) students per car, therefore, scheduling flexibility may berequired.
The fee for Driver Education is $490.00. Registration procedures are as follows:. Students that are in 11 th & 12 th gradewill register by submitting a parent-signed Fall EnrollmentApplication, Code of Conduct form and payment beginning Tuesday, July30, 2019 to Ms. Marino in Room 107.
Payment must be a MoneyOrder or check for $490.00, made payable to Connetquot CSD, memo-studentname/Driver Education. Money Orders are strongly recommended and nocash payments will be accepted. Please sign the registration record bookwhen registering. Students may register before they have a permit butmust have their permit before the first day of class. Placementof driving and lecture classes for all registered students will be basedon grade level and the student’s birthdate.
On August 6, 2019 a classroster will be posted outside Ms. Marino’s office. It is very importantwhen choosing your 1st, 2nd and 3rd choice when registering that youconsider all other commitments (Clubs, Jobs and Sports). Thereis a mandatory orientation meeting on Wednesday, September 4, 2019 at6:00 P.M. In the Auditorium. Both the student and parent must attendthis meeting.New York State Department of Educationmandates that in order to qualify for a Certificate of Completion(MV-285) a student must:. Be 16 years old and hold a valid Learner’s Permit prior to the first day of class.
Complete24 hrs. Of in-car training with 6 hrs. Behind the wheel and 18 hrs. Please note that DMV requires students to complete 50 hrs.of supervised driving and submit an MV-262 form, signed by a parent orguardian attesting to the completed hrs.

Occurring aftersunset, before a student may take their road test. Complete 24 hrs. Of lecture classroom training and earn a grade of 65 or above for both portions of the course. There are no excused absences. All absences must be made up. An incomplete cannot be made up during the next semester without paying for the course again.
